So, we talked to some of the team from Abbott who told us all about the direct-to-consumer arm to their business and their product Ensure Max Protein.
Tell us a bit about your company, its background and your products?
Abbott was formed more than 130 years ago. We’ve adapted to an increasingly complex healthcare environment by keeping our focus where it belongs—on helping people achieve their best possible health, in all stages of life, around the world. And that’s a goal we'll continue to pursue far into the future.
How many people work for the business and who do you sell to?
Abbott employs over 100,000 employees globally and 1400 in the UK, working to improve human health through nutrition, diagnostics, medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
Abbott Nutrition’s primary business is with hospitals, pharmacies and GPs. Recently though we have launched an exciting range of direct to consumer products that are sold across retail channels: pharmacies, chemists and e-commerce primarily.
Is there a specific product you are particularly proud of and why?
Our newest launch, out in the UK market just a year ago, is Ensure Max Protein: a ready-to-drink protein shake with 30g of protein, 27 vitamins and minerals only 1g of sugar, designed to give you the energy you need for the whole day to do all the things you love! Available in 3 delicious flavours, this new launch is perfectly addressing the key consumer trend for convenience, quality ingredients and healthy snacking, no wonder it is enjoying raving product reviews!
What are your ambitions for your company?
Our direct to consumer division is aiming to become a significant part of Abbott’s portfolio. It is an opportunity to bring our vision to life for a wider consumer audience, helping people in the pursuit of healthy lives by offering convenient and easy to access solutions for balanced nutrition. We're driven by our passion and commitment to achieve this goal.
What do you think of the Product Guru platform?
We were so excited to find out about the platform! We love the idea that it simplifies the very crowded retail environment. Especially for new entrants, like Abbott, into the consumer goods space, it offers a great opportunity for visibility of new product offerings.
