Product Guru Supplier Focus | Into the world of From Me 2 U and the Handmade Greeting Cards market
At Product Guru we are proud to support a growing community of small independent suppliers. We list products across all FMCG and gifts categories and we like to share the stories behind them.
Our latest 'Supplier Focus' blog looks at Nathalie, at From Me 2 U, who told us more about her business in a recent interview.
Tell us a bit about your company?
I originally started Jaab Cards UK in 2017 after my friend Judith the founder, designer and creator of Jaab Cards in Thailand showed me all her beautiful elegant and sparkly designs. I was amazed that no-one had as yet brought these lovely handcrafted cards to the UK market and so with a little persuasion, I created a distribution platform for Jaab here in London.
I was totally new to the greeting card market in 2017 and though it has been a steep learning curve, with regard to price point, copyright, licensing, marketing and learning what the customers expect from a card distributor, it has been very rewarding.
Towards the end of 2018 as our UK market slowly began to expand we decided to separate the Jaab names as the branding and card designs had become very different between Thailand and London. So in January 2019 From Me 2 U U.K was born.
Judith started Jaab Cards in 2004 with the aim of giving back and helping the women in Thailand. Our ladies come from underprivileged backgrounds and are often the only ones supporting the family. We offer them training and full-time employment with fair-trade terms, social security benefits and more. We provide a safe environment filled with laughter.
Jaab Cards also donates 10% of their gross profit to Breast Cancer Outreach Project in memory of Judith’s mother taken at a young age. This important project helps educate, screen and treat underprivileged women in a country where Breast Cancer is still a taboo subject.
What do you produce?
Our unique cards are created by Judith who finds her inspiration from fashion as well as her environment.
The cards are then handcrafted by our very talented team of ladies who paint, apply glitter as well as rhinestones, sequins, bows etc all by hand depending on the intricate design.
Who does it sell too?
The Jaab greeting cards are sold in Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Switzerland, Germany and the U.K. Here in England, we currently distribute to a few independent traders, gift shops, boutiques, florists and garden centres. We are hoping to continue to expand our distribution and introduce these beautiful cards to everyone in the U.K.
Is there a specific product you are particularly proud of and why?
We loved working with the Royal Academy of Dance to create a classic ballet collection for which we continually add new designs. I think we are most proud of our ever-popular Silver Collection though every new collection has designs we love and spark our excitement to get them to market.
What do you most enjoy about running your company?
I am a people person and love connecting with customers and receiving feedback on our designs. I am immensely grateful knowing each card sold brings joy to the purchaser and receiver as well as making a big difference to our team in Thailand.
What do you do in your spare time?
I love travelling, visiting new places, meeting people and experiencing different cultures. Walking my dog gives me time to contemplate, strategise and get inspiration. My two teenage boys keep me up to date with new technology and trends around the world. It's not always easy to balance work and life but sometimes the two just combine seamlessly.
What do you think of the Product Guru platform?
I appreciate a platform that is not only quick and simple to use but allows me to easily upload products and all the information required to hopefully attract customers. Being able to showcase all our designs to a large vetted client base gives us the ideal opportunity to expand the sale of our intricately detailed cards.
Product Guru facilitates the introduction by placing products in front of vetted buyers. Like From Me 2 U, you can sign up to Product Guru for free today and start showcasing your own products on our platform.
